Read: UPTU to start new session on July 31

NOIDA: Uttar Pradesh Technical University (UPTU) has released the admission schedule for the current academic year. The classes will be held from July 31. The university is, however, yet to declare the date of counselling for students who have qualified in the Uttar Pradesh State Entrance Exam (UPSEE) for admission to various undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.

According to the UPTU guidelines, 65% of the seats in affiliated colleges are to be filled through UPSEE, while 15% are reserved for management quota. The remaining seats are filled by the students who will qualify in the joint entrance exam (JEE).

Jagveer Singh, UPSEE coordinator, said that the university was waiting for the JEE results which are expected to be declared on June 18.

"We have set up 113 counselling centres for students who want to pursue different technical courses from affiliated academic institutions," he said.

The university has also formed a committee for conducting the counselling sessions. The counselling date will be announced after the JEE advanced results are declared. At the document verification centre the students will be given a unique One-Time Password on their mobile phones, which will be needed for checking the status of their allotment.

This year, 1,40,156 students have qualified for BTech programmes and 8,726 have qualified for MBA programmes through UPSEE.

A counselling centre has been set up at Noida's Mahatma Gandhi Mission's College of Engineering & Technology. Sunil Wag, principal of the MGM College, said, "The students' documents will be verified at the counselling centre. Then they will have to register online by choosing their subjects and finally confirm their seats by depositing a fee".

The university will allot seats based on students' ranking in UPSEE-2015.
